Now, Baird works in the private sector as a Senior Business Advisor at Bennett Jones.

In 2019, Bennett Jones played a role in 150 seniors losing their homes, when they helped KingSett Capital acquire 877 Yonge, where Davenhill Senior Living was housed. The plans that KingSett had for 877 Yonge never materialized, and in 2021, the City of Toronto, announced they purchased the 877 Yonge for close to $100 million, using the Federal Rapid Housing fund.

According to one newspaper, the city had paid almost four times the market value for the property.
