230 Fightback and allies confront corporate greed.
Attendees at the RealREIT Conference, some of whom paid up to $1000 to attend a one-day conference
in Toronto, were met by a very visible group of people on September 10. KingSett Capital, Dream
Unlimited and Starlight, who were present at the conference, were exposed outside the main doors of
the Metro Convention Centre for their greed.
230 Fightback and its allies sent a clear message to the
more than 500 developers, bankers and investors in attendance that we would not be pushed and
priced out of their neighbourhoods. Government must stop giving public funds and public land to these
corporations whose only interest is building for profit housing for speculators. Elected officials must
stop doing business with these corporation who are responsible for creating one of the worst housing
crisis since the Second World War. Municipalities from across Canada, including Toronto, must be given
the resources necessary to build social housing to house its people.
