Jon Love Picket Report back

When we arrived at Menkes Development, which was hosting the Toronto Region Board of Trade, where Jon Love was to give the key note speech, we were met with 20 cops and private security.  The 200 guests who paid $100 to $150 each to hear Jon Love speak, had to walk the gauntlet as more than a dozen demonstrators carrying picket signs which read “Jon Love is No Friend of The Poor” and “We Won’t Be Pushed Out” confronted them.  They were reminded of how Jon Love and KingSett were responsible for evicting 150 seniors in the summer of 2019 and how last year Jon Love had killed our communities hope for social housing when KingSett outbid the city for 214-230 Sherbourne.  We were out there to give Jon Love a clear message – he and his condo tower are not wanted at Dundas and Sherbourne. Jon Love must negotiate with the city. If not then the city must begin the expropriation process. Our fight to stop Jon Love and KingSett will only intensify if Jon Love refuses to negotiate.
